Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Often referred to as simply “heart failure”, this condition affects the pumping power of your heart muscles. It’s the stage wherein fluid builds up around the heart and causes it to pump inefficiently. This develops because your ventricles are unable to pump enough blood volume to the body. When a person develops CHF, this can be life-threatening. If symptoms of the condition have become severe, seek immediate medical attention.
Coronary Artery Disease
This involves the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries. It is usually caused by atherosclerosis, which is the build-up of cholesterol and fatty deposits (plaque) inside the arteries. These fatty deposits clog or damage the arteries, limiting or stopping blood flow to the heart muscle. When this happens, the person could suffer from chest pain or worse, a heart attack. Should signs of a heart attack occur, seek immediate medical attention from the emergency room.
